Tennessee Severe Weather Awareness Week

Tennessee Severe Weather Awareness Week

Tennessee Severe Weather Awareness Week (SWAW) is February 20-26, 2022. This week is an opportunity to increase awareness and preparedness for spring severe weather hazards.

During Severe Weather Awareness Week, each day focuses on a specific hazard or topic. We can all take action to prepare! We are all able to help first responders in our community by training how to respond during an emergency and what to do when disaster strikes — where we live, work and visit. The goal of Severe Weather Awareness Week is to increase the overall number of individuals, families, and communities that are educated and prepared for the unique threats and natural hazards that face Tennessee.

This SWAW toolkit includes suggestions for talking points and social media messaging that local governments, businesses, community organizations, and individuals can use to promote SWAW. As you familiarize yourself with the toolkit, keep in mind the audiences that you work with, and select the tools that are best able to help your organization reach them most effectively.
